Globally approximately 120 million females under the age of 20 and an unknown number of males victims have experienced forced sexual contact. Many cases of child sexual abuse go unreported due to stigma and fear.

The World Day for the Prevention of and healing from child sexual exploitation, abuse, and violence is observed annually on November 18. This is aimed at raising awareness on child sexual abuse, and promoting healing for victims and survivors.

The theme for the 2024 celebration is “Emerging technologies: threats and opportunities for the protection of children from sexual exploitation and sexual abuse”. As an association, PAN encourages opening conversations and taking deliberate actions on protection of the child rights and ensuring their dignity, mental and physical health, and ensuring access to justice and support services.

We call on relevant organizations to ensure that survivors have access to necessary support services, including mental health care and legal assistance
