The Paediatric Association of Nigeria (PAN) raises its voice to support the global campaign to #Unite2EndFGM. Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) remains a significant violation of human rights, with devastating consequences for young girls and women across the country and beyond.

The Harmful Effects of FGM FGM has no medical benefit. Instead, it inflicts physical and psychological trauma on its victims. The harmful effects include severe pain, excessive bleeding, infections, complications during childbirth, and long-term emotional distress. Despite growing awareness, this harmful practice persists in various communities, making it imperative for collective action.

Strengthening Alliances for Change Ending FGM requires a united front. Collaboration with the government, policymakers, healthcare professionals, and community stakeholders is crucial in driving sustainable change. Through advocacy, education, and enforcement of protective laws, we can ensure that every girl grows up free from the risk of FGM.

A Call to Action We must remain committed to protecting the health and well-being of our children. By strengthening our alliances, spreading awareness, and supporting survivors, we take significant steps toward eradicating FGM from our society.

Together, We Can!

Join us in this fight. Use your voice, educate your community, and support initiatives that protect the rights of girls and women.
