The Paediatric Association of Nigeria (PAN) under the PAN/RCPCH Air Quality Project collaborated with the Ministry of Environment Abuja to commemorate the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies 2025 and the launch of the National Clean Air programme on Wednesday the 10th of September 2025 at the Ministry of Environment Abuja. The Honorable Minister of Environment His Excellency Mallam Balarabe Abbas Lawal was in attendance along with other dignitaries and over 100 invited school children. Dr Beatrice Ezenwa, PAN Treasurer delivered the goodwill message on behalf of the PAN President Dr Ekanem Ekure.
There was a poetic recitation on air pollution by OXFAM, a youth-led advocacy group and a power point presentation on the Impact of Air pollution on the health of children delivered by Dr Chika Duru, the PAN Secretary. Our own PAN member Dr Rita Idemudia participated in the #BreatheEasyNigeria campaign on behalf of PAN.
The ceremony ended with the official launch of the National Clean Air Programme with the unveiling ofthe #BreatheEasyNigeria campaign which involved the installation of Air Quality Monitoring devices and signing of the MOU on Air Quality between the department of Pollution Control and Environmental health and the Environmental Health Council of Nigeria.
